Holding to Ideals

WE cannot afford to lower, or even weaken, the standard which bears aloft the banner of our highest ideals.

We must not refrain from living our highest, simply from fear that we shall not be understood. When the highest motives and acts are misjudged then comes the crossbearing, the burden seems too much; but if we can only remember that confident persistence in right doing will ultimately convince opponents of our true position, we shall not give way to doubt and discouragement. Jesus held to his understanding of the power and reality of eternal Love against great odds, in the face of death-dealing opposition, but he finally gave convincing proof of the truth of his cause. His spiritual understanding of Life overthrew the claim of materiality.

When we search our inmost thought and find that our whole desire is unto God and the coming of His kingdom, that we are free personal motives and desires, we should be able to stand with unshrinking loyalty for ideals which will bear the closest scrutiny; ideals which are the inspiration of Infinite Mind.
