The Lectures

Carol Norton, C.S.D., of New York, member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Boston, Mass., lectured on "Christian Science is Applied Christianity" at Stone Opera House last evening [May 6]. Assemblyman James T. Rogers introduced Mr. Norton and spoke in part as follows:—

Ladies and gentlemen:—It seems to be the frequent custom to have the public exponents of this school introduced by unbelievers, a fact which in itself commends its followers as being liberal and fair-minded to those who differ from them, a quality dear to all true Americans who appreciate in the broadest sense the blood-bought liberties of thought and speech and conscience, for which our forefathers fought and died.

The time is not far remote when differences in religious belief were productive of bitterness and discord and acrimonious strife. Those days are rapidly vanishing, however, and we are coming to realize with Tennyson that
