Having many times received encouragement and helpful...
Having many times received encouragement and helpful thoughts from the testimonials in both the Journal and Sentinel, I desire to send my testimony in grateful acknowledgment of what Christian Science has done for me.
When a schoolgirl I was quite a hard student, and as I had never been very strong physically, I thought it necessary to bend every energy and exercise much will power to enable me to gratify my ambition as a student. After several years of intense strain I found myself at the age of seventeen a complete physical wreck. No words could describe the suffering of the next few years. Those who have passed through a similar experience know the physical and mental anguish which attend a general breaking down of the entire system. I was unable to read, and too ill to do anything for my own pleasure. My chief thought was one of inward rebellion toward the God who I thought had rewarded my best efforts by taking away all that made life worth living.
Both the allopathic and homeopathic schools of medicine were tried in vain, and drugs of every description taken. Finally, in desperation, simply because everything else had failed, I turned to Christian Science as a last resort. For three successive years from May until October, I was on a couch unable to move, and it was in this condition that my healer found me when I began treatment, nearly three years ago.
