The following incident was told me some time ago by a Christian Science Sunday School teacher. One Sunday one of the pupils brought a little girl who knew nothing of Science to visit the class. The subject of the lesson that Sunday was "Love." The teacher took the little visitor upon her lap and talked to her about love, telling her that God is Love, that she was Love's little girl, and the only reason people got sick was because they forgot God is Love. The next day the child was taken seriously ill with a high fever, and her mother, who is not a Scientist, sent for a doctor. While waiting for the physician to arrive the mother took her child in her arms saying, "Mamma's poor little girl is so sick and mamma is so sorry." The little girl straightened up and putting her hand on her mother's breast pushed herself down saying, "God is Love and I am Love's little girl," and with the realization of the Truth of what it meant to be a child of God the little one was instantly healed of the sickness. When the doctor arrived he examined the child and found nothing the matter with her, and inquired why he was called. The mother explained that the child had a high fever when she sent for him, and she was quite alarmed about the child's condition.

After the doctor left, the mother went to see a friend who is a Scientist, and told her about the child's illness and what the little one said, and of her immediate recovery, and added that she wanted to understand its teachings. The friend replied that it certainly was Christian Science, and now that mother knows that she also is Love's child.

This experience has emphasized to me the necessity of proving our faith by ours works, by so living Love that we shall draw all mankind unto us. What a privilege to live so as to help others see the Truth and what blessings it brings to all. Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven," not praise you, but praise God. And if "We . . . strive, watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus, to love one another, and to be meek, merciful, just, and pure" (Science and Health, p. 497), we shall realize the richness of the blessings which come from unselfishly living for others. We know that all things come from God; and, when we are living to our best understanding each day, we will keep our windows clean, so God's pure, perfect, loving light may shine through, and our brother will see the light and learn to know and love God—Good.
