A New Year Wish, 1902

It is not wealth I'd wish for thee, dear friend,Nor fame, nor power thy destinies to bendTo suit thy will; nor love, nor peace, nor joy,Nor health, nor e'en content without alloy.But this my wish, which doth all these embrace,And the false concept of all else efface:An understanding heart to know thy God,A willingness to follow where He leads,A perfect trust that all things work for good,And that He ever will supply thy needs.
