The Sentinel and Journal are welcome visitors, and I...
The Sentinel and Journal are welcome visitors, and I have often thought that I ought to send a few words showing my appreciation of them and gratitude for what Science has done for me; but error has always suggested that I wait until I was fully healed, that I might have something definite to write; but if a demonstration which we are seeking to make seems to be delayed, and for any reason we are unwilling to write anything for our publications, may that not be the very error which is holding us back? Mrs. Eddy says, "A just acknowledgment of Truth, and what it has done for us, is an effectual help" (Science and Health, p. 372). The promise is, "If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land," and our Leader in "Miscellaneous Writings" gives one definition of obedience as being "never unready to work for God." We cannot expect the blessing unless we fulfil the condition. If we allow ourselves to feel discouraged and are tempted to think the demonstration will never be made, we are taking "thought for the morrow," and not realizing that we are promised strength only for to-day.
I used to read in the Sentinel the testimonies of physical healing first, but since I have learned so well the wonders (to mortal sense) of which Science is capable, I am more interested in accounts of spiritual healing and the articles "From our Contributors," and I always feel a sense of loss when those articles have to be omitted.
There was an especially helpful editorial in a June number on "The Less Startling Demonstrations." While I have no remarkable cure to relate, I am more grateful than words can express for the help which I receive daily; and the peace and joy which are mine only those can understand who have experienced the same.
