Lead Gently

I think many of us often make the mistake, especially when we first taste of a healing power and spiritual illumination which comes from the reading of our blessed textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our dear Leader, of wanting to bring every one about us, namely, our relatives, into the great joy and understanding of the Truth. Of course, the desire is right, but we cannot drag them. Each person has to see the Truth for himself, and has to come to the point that he longs for spiritual things, either consciously or unconsciously. A little word of Truth spoken awakes him; he commences to grasp the spiritual, and little by little to cast off the old man and his deeds for the real man, created in God's image and likeness.

In this connection the thought came that after a long winter's sleep the earth is not completely aroused by one day's shining of the sun, but day by day, through its patient shining, the ice is melted and broken up, and the sweet flowers and tender grass spring forth to gladden our hearts.

We need to know when and what to speak, wisely, and above all to have the Christ Truth so engrafted in our thought that we shall illumine all those within our radius with the practical force of living the life that approaches the highest Good.
