About a year ago I was asked to treat a lady who had been in very feeble health and had suffered intensely for many years. I had not treated her a week when she walked in to see me from her home—about three miles out—and walked back the same afternoon. She had not walked so far in twenty years. She was diseased from childhood, and said she had been under the care of doctors for fifty years. Her father was a physician, and twenty others of the medical profession had treated her, and they all said she could never be well.
For long periods she would be unconscious and confined to her bed. She would have violent spasms, and showed me where her tongue had been terribly bitten during the suffering, and her arms scarred from the use of morphine injections. She had undergone four surgical operations without the slightest benefit, and several times was given up to die. She had suffered from pleurisy and violent attacks of sick headache all her life.
Just before applying for treatment a lady gave her some Christian Science literature to read. She was convinced at once that it was the truth, and began attending the church. She asked me to treat her, and before the week was out she was free.
