God has always provided means for bringing souls into His presence with joy. Moses was called apart from the world to hold converse with Jehovah and it was after the communion that his face shone. He could not be in converse with God and remain the same man he had been. The impress of God was upon him. Even Jesus in the Mount of Transfiguration, while talking with the Father had the "fashion of his countenance" altered. What an expressive sentence this! If we want our lives changed, our look and manner take on a new and strange fascination before our companions, we must know how to get into the secret of God's presence, how to talk with Him. Do not expect some audible voice to speak to you when you talk with God. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him. He can speak in a language the soul can understand. Love always does. Communion is coming into union with God. One with Him in all your desires and purposes and plans. others will often be more conscious of the effect than ourselves. "Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone." Well for us if others discern our transformation. The Standard.
Rev. H. W. Barnes says in The Examiner:— "It is the union of words and works which justifies the faith of the Christian. Christ himself appealed to his work and his words: 'If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.' When this question, 'Who is the son of man?' was asked him he simply announced himself as the Light that was among them, a sort of living light, on which they should believe that they might become sons of light, and not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.
