Epilepsy Healed

When I was four years old I was frightened by a horse running toward me. I started to run and fell in a fit. My father and mother had passed away and I was living with a man and his wife, who cared for me as they would have cared for their own child. They did all they could for me. Doctors were employed and for a time they were able to relieve me while I was taking their medicine, but finally they failed to do anything for me. I then took patent medicine until it failed to help me.

I continued to grow worse and had as many as fourteen spasms in twenty-four hours. After an attack of this kind I was unable to do anything for a week. Finally I became so bad that I had fifty spasms in one day. Then the man with whom I am living went to Roanoke and had a friend write to a Christian Scientist to treat me.

The Christian Scientist treated me about three weeks and I did not have a single fit after the first treatment until the following harvest, when I had a slight attack. I was working in the harvest field and I had always been affected when I worked very much in hot weather.
