Evil must be Overcome
Some experiences I have had within the past year impel me to write these lines in order that others, as well as I may be on guard and remember the injunction of Jesus to his disciples: "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves."
It seems that there is danger that students of Christian Science, especially those who formerly belonged to what is called the orthodox church, may have a one-sided or narrow understanding of the teachings of Christian Science and of what they demand of the student, before he can demonstrate them practically.
We learn in Christian Science that God is "Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; Substance; Intelligence" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker G. Eddy, p. 578). It is upon this latter synonym of God that many of us at times fail to dwell. God is just as much omnipresent Intelligence as He is omnipresent Love, and we must "Know what we worship" before we can expect to manifest harmony.
