He Calleth Thee

Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.—Mark, 10:49.

The Christ, the Healer of all ills, calls, and has called, all men continually. Why, then, is the world still full of diseases and troubles? Why do so few hear the voice of the Healer? First, because for many centuries we have been assured that the Healer was no longer here, and that we must wait for a future-world salvation. Isolated cases of cure by holy, uplifting faith occurred, but were looked on as exceptions, as miracles, or even as impostures, or instances of self-deception. Now, however it has been proved that the Christ is still here, and still the Healer.

The other cause of our blindness is our own unwillingness to give up our material beliefs, although we have often tried them and found them wanting. As each cherished prop gives way, we try another, try anything that we can see, rather than trust the Invisible alone.
