Fear Overcome

Many, many times since my journey in Christian Science began, I have thought I must write something to express my love and gratitude for the help I have received in this up-hill journey.

Like the impotent man at the pool of Bethesda, I relied many years upon man's help, but it always failed when most needed. When Truth found me I think I was plunged into darkest Egypt. I was simply waiting for the summons whom most people dread, but to me it would have been most welcome. However, that summons never came, but rather the opposite, Arise, take up thy bed, and walk. My healing was not a quick one. There were many defeats as well as triumphs, but I still pressed on, confident that it was the right way, and my labors have not been without reward.

June 27, 1900, my little girl and myself went to our Wednesday evening services. There was a storm coming up as we started, but we went on, not thinking of being absent on account of a storm. Soon after reaching the hall, another lady arrived, and we sat there talking when, with out warning, the storm burst upon us. The room was filled with dust before we could get things shut up, which we did as quickly as possible.
