The Lectures
Judge Joseph R. Clarkson of Omaha, a member of the Board of Lectureship of the Christian Science Church, spoke to a representative congregation at the stone church last evening (Thursday, May 3). Judge Clarkson was, previous to the acceptance of his lectureship, an eminent attorney and law partner of Senator John M. Thurston at Omaha.
The lecturer was introduced to the assemblage by C. H. E. Boardman in a short, well-received speech.
The audience, which gave him the closest attention for nearly an hour and a half, was richly repaid for their attendance. The lecturer dealt with the origin and aim of Christian Science. Gifted with a pleasing platform manner and excellent delivery, he marshalled the evidences of the truth and divine origin of the cult founded by Mary Baker Eddy in 1866, with the skill of the trained lawyer and veteran jurist that he is. To those who admit the truth of his premises the result must have been conclusive.
