No Desire for Tobacco
I have been a subscriber to the Journal over ten years. For twenty-three years I used tobacco. After learning something of Christian Science I bought Science and Health and commenced reading it. Soon my cigars lost their good flavor, and I changed the brand. I tried more expensive ones, but they were no better. One day a friend presented me with an imported cigar, supposed to be very fine. It was reserved for an evening smoke. I remember as if it were but yesterday the feeling of contentment and also of the assurance of enjoyment that came to me as I took my Science and Health, sat down, lighted the cigar and began to read. The cigar was absolutely tasteless and I laid it one side but kept the book. This was thirteen years ago. I have never tasted, or even had a desire to taste, tobacco since, but I still keep the book.
