Eye on the world: Prayer for a sense of home for all

As the global community continues to seek a solution for millions of stateless individuals, we can turn to the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy to direct our thinking and prayers on this subject:

“My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places” (Isaiah 32:18).

“Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God” (Science and Health, p. 254).

Here are some thoughts on praying in support of a sense of home for everyone:

“To be at home” discusses the spiritual nature of a true sense of home: “... we have an eternal, spiritual abode in God that is unchangeable—always intact and completely untouched by what may be going on humanly.”

Two former refugees from different parts of the world share spiritual perspectives on home and refuge:

The writer of “From refugee to refuge found” says, “As children of God, we are creations of Soul, and we belong forever to the spiritual universe of God…. Home is wherever the Father-Mother and God's children are ….”

In “The rock of my refuge,” the writer speaks of “a most secure place of refuge—a childlike trust in God, in good, right there where the icy winds of hatred blow.”
