Eye on the world: Christ’s healing presence
Even while issues with North Korea, Russia, and the Middle East continue to challenge, a persistent spirit of humanity is guiding hearts and lives in efforts toward peace, love, and intelligent action.
From The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany by Mary Baker Eddy: “The basis of Christmas is love loving its enemies, returning good for evil, love that ‘suffereth long, and is kind.’ The true spirit of Christmas elevates medicine to Mind; it casts out evils, heals the sick, raises the dormant faculties, appeals to all conditions, and supplies every need of man” (p. 260).
The author of “Preparing for Christmas” offers some practical spiritual guidance on how to keep the “busyness” of the holiday from taking over and drowning out the Christ’s presence.
