Man is always the reflection of God, eternal good. Whatever appears as disease, discord, death, is not of God, and is unlike Him. We must at all times assent to our Father-Mother God; this is the way to Christ-healing. Disease is an error. Christ Jesus is our Master, the Way-shower—the Scientist who demonstrated the necessity and power of Christian healing absolutely and in its entirety.

Individuals who adhere to the validity of this method of healing prove it to be authentic. Mrs. Eddy writes: "Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (psalm 103:3)." ^{Manual of The Mother Church, Art. VIII, Sect. 24.}

Every week a unique body of written testimony to the healing power of God, Principle, has become available, gathering weight and volume in the Christian Science Sentinel; also monthly in The Christian Science Journal and The Herald of Christian Science. These periodicals give us assurance that sickness, even in its aggravated, most obstinate or unbearable forms, has been healed metaphysically. The truth is: a disease overcome for one is thereafter less difficult for others to conquer. The proof is "more than a mere rehearsal of blessings"; it is for you and for me and for all.

Sickness is a result of negative thinking; it is a human hypothesis. The Bible states, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." ^{Ex. 20:3.} This is the sine qua non of true healing. There is no reality in material effect. To have other gods is to accept a disruption of man's unity with his Maker.

Paganism, idolatry, material medicine, incantation, trusting in charms—all these practices virtually admit other gods. Contagion and heredity are diseases of idolatry. Graven images are illusion and delusion. Some people still hold to the erroneous belief that when they wear a charm the so-called disease troubling them will be powerless or will vanish. This thought is somewhat similar to that of a person who smokes or becomes drunk on the excuse of enjoying stimulants. Both states are really mortal mind's unconsciousness, and lower morality and impede spiritual progress.

Acute or chronic, diseases are unreal, unintelligent. Because disease cannot be found in the one Mind, God, we can prove its nothingness. Ultimately we will ascend out of all mortal beliefs and their objectification. Jealousy, limitation, fear, false appetites, lack, greed, are externals of the belief that God is not All. The nature and essence of real body may be discerned and demonstrated by applying metaphysics.

"From the interior of Africa to the utmost parts of the earth, the sick and the heavenly homesick or hungry hearts are calling on me for help, and I am helping them." ^{The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 147.} Utterances like this are statements of healing achievement by Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Healing work is a divinely inspired duty; it attests to our oneness with God. All men and women and children in their true being are whole as the likeness of God, infinite Principle.

Metaphysical healing is spiritually uplifting. Spiritualization of thought is its foundation. Only the material senses are unable to cognize the Christ. Furthermore, animal magnetism, mesmerism, and hypnotism yield to transformation and regeneration in this spiritualization of thought.

Spiritual law heals. This law rests on the basis of divine Principle, God. Sickness is a trial, a temptation. It is also a time to move closer to God, divine Principle—to lean on Him and be healed.
