Persistence in healing

Live audio chat with Ken Girard, C.S.

In this chat Ken shows us the difference between relentlessly pushing toward a healing in a human way, and effortlessly yielding to God’s power, presence, and purpose for each one of us. He goes on to say that yielding often means giving up old material ways of thinking and acting, and instead aligning our thought with what God knows about us. He shows the importance of understanding Mary Baker Eddy's statement, “Have no ambition, affection, nor aim apart from holiness” (Miscellaneous Writings 1883-1896, p. 154). He said having this desire for holiness will guide us and sustain us in both our search for healing and our search for meaning and purpose in life.

Ken answers questions such as: What role does Christ play in helping us be persistent in our search for healing? What ideas do you have to help us neutralize fear when it tries to paralyze our persistent prayers? I graduated a year ago from college and still don't have work; what should I do? How do you distinguish which “belief” to be dismissed, when there appears to be so many facets of a chronic challenge? What has your experience as a musician taught you about persistence that has been helpful to your work as a Christian Science practitioner? And when a problem goes on for years with much dedicated prayer, what is needed to break the mesmerism?

When answering all these questions and more, Ken said the first need is to turn wholeheartedly to God and lean only on Him. Doing this puts us on the path to understanding God and His kingdom. This knowledge does bring healing.
