Genuine peace at Christmas

Marceil DeLacy, C.S.B.

A major theme that runs through this chat is the value of relying on Christ Jesus’ promise of peace. He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). Marceil speaks about taking time to honor the Christ-spirit that Jesus expressed and to accept his invitation “to be yoked or joined with him in the kind of union with God that makes our burdens light. I think that’s the foundation on which we can build an unshakable inner peace that not only carries us through the holiday season but through the whole year.”

Among the questions answered are how to deal with memories and sadness over loved ones who have passed on, challenging relationships and rejection of parental guidance by older children. Also, how to pray to end war and conflict, the best way to express the true spirit of Christmas, how not to feel resentful if people don’t seem grateful for the presents one has given, and how to help someone who doesn’t believe in God overcome depression.
