THE UNSPOKEN PRAYER

There is a prayer of thanks no child of earthCan voice in words.

RECOMPENSE

My hands that were reaching so eagerly outHave closed on the hilt of a star;My eyes that were scanning the waters of doubtHave visioned the harbor afar.

JESUS—CHRIST

O Master , thou with the patient eyesAnd the brow that bore and strove; With the voice that ne'er a word conveyedBut was born of infinite Love;Men say, as they pass on their way today,Bending low neath the weight of care,Could they touch thy hem that their silent griefWould melt in the saintly air.

THE LOYAL FRIEND

To whom does thought first turn in pain or joy?

REFUGE

Across the lonely moor of the sky,Wild and bleak and pale,When the fairy webs of frost are spunAnd the autumn wind-harps ring.

From Church

LIFE, TRUTH, AND LOVE

O Blessed Truth!Thou art the guide that found me,Depressed and weary, with a sense of pain;Banished all fear, with loving arms around me,Taught me of Soul, and made me joy again!

GROWING

Not by the passing years or season's beautyMark we our growth, as sowers watch the seed; Not e'en in reckoning the hourly dutyWhich gains a goal or satisfies a greed.

OUR KNIGHT

Surely he'd come, this knight, and like the king,Arthur of old, redress the wrong and standFor honor, justice, and for stainless truth! In dream I saw him draw his sword,—the Word,Before whose power wrong shrinks, abashed and pale,Foreseeing doom in this one flash of light.

UNFOLDING FAITH

O Tend'Rest Love, that guides the stumbling feet,And keepest them in paths where Thou dost bide;I cannot stray beyond Thy watchful care,But always 'neath Thy shelt'ring wing may hide.

ASPIRATION

Make me a savor of sweetness,A sweet-smelling savor of Love,To hearts that know not the repleteness,Of life that is breathed from above.

IN LOVE I LIVE

In Love man lives, forever pure and fair,Forever free from things which seem to bind,His real life is within the realm of Mind,The power of Truth is here and everywhere; In Love, man lives.
