Pilgrimage

Dear God, let me walk with Thee all the day,For when alone, how steep the path and drear,What hills of doubt and valleys deep of fear! But by Thy side, how easy grows the way!

Awakening

Awakening out of one of the little dreams of sleepI wonder a moment is it night or morn,But through this resurrection my sense of being I keep,And with refreshment arise as one newborn.

Listening

As the child Samuel waited in the darkFor God's command,So may I listen for the voice of TruthAnd understand.

The Pilgrim's Prayer

O thou almighty One, who by the handOf Moses led Thy flock from Egypt's land,Though scattered in the dark and cloudy day,The rifted clouds reveal the lighted wayThat leads from bondage to the claims of sense,To liberty in Thee, omnipotence! The journey may be long and sense impede,But Love provides for every human need.

Building!

I will build me a house eternal, that reacheth to heavenly height—A house not made by hand.

Reflection

Have I a word of hope and cheer?

Let Me Remember Beauty

The tender curve of little moons,A flock of birds against the blue,The flame of peach trees in the spring,The mountain's far extended view; The gracious smile, the gentle word,The kindly action—let these beWithin my heart a well of joySymbolic of Life's harmony.

Grace for To-day*

Grace for to-day! Oh, may we knowThe joy these words imply,That as the seed of love we sow,We reap our true supply.
