A Soldier's Prayer

At break of day, when morning sun draws nigh,I close my eyes in prayer, and pray that IMay know the truth, that it may make me freeAnd bring me nearer still, my Lord, to Thee;

"In a certain place"

There only is one certain place:It is not far,Nor found by weary, toilsome ways—There, now, we are.

One there was who prayed to see revealedSuch things the earthly-minded cannot know.

My Victory Garden

In victory garden of my heartMay seeds of Spirit flourish;There holy thoughts may Truth impart,And inspiration nourish.

Sanctuary

Let me pause here beside this open doorWhile gratitude floods swiftly through my heart:This is the little room that welcomed her,This the still place in which her thoughts found strength—A humble spot, a tiny "closet"—whereThat one whose heart went out to all mankindCould ponder God's dear love and tender care.
