Shepherd Song
As
the shepherd guides his charges
To the mountain meadows green,
So does God provide the uplands
Where His flock may rest serene.
As the shepherd seeks the waters
Where the springs are clear and still,
So does God provide refreshment,
Undisturbed by human will.
He will guide us through the valleys
Where the shades of death appear;
With His rod and staff to tend us,
What is there for us to fear?
As the shepherd spreads the table
In the presence of the foe,
So does God provide a blessing
Even where the dragons go.
In His fold of love and mercy
He will make our tremblings cease;
He will brim our cup with kindness
And anoint us with His peace.
