A Soldier of Christ

Stern duty bids me walk an unknown trail,A path where darksome shadows seem to be;Yet well I know I shall not faint nor fail,For Love divine goes all the way with me.

A Soldier's Prayer

At break of day, when morning sun draws nigh,I close my eyes in prayer, and pray that IMay know the truth, that it may make me freeAnd bring me nearer still, my Lord, to Thee;

Convoy

How sure is he who travels in the way!He holds his course in confidence and peace.

Wings

God gives him wings—strong-pinioned, buoyant, kind,Held true by compass of all-knowing Mind—A legion angel thoughts to bear him up and on.

Repentance

The peaceful silence of the contrite heartIs eloquent beyond all clamorous praise;For in this stillness pride and fear depart,And meekness learns of God His wondrous ways.

Obedience

Do you move freely on the mountain height,With feet unfettered and with heart unbound?
