Healed during college choir practice

It was another busy day in college. I’d already been to three classes, and I still had a night class that would end after 10 p.m. Choir was before dinner. And I had to work my job. As the day went on, I felt more and more overwhelmed by all the things I had to do and started to feel a headache coming on.

Growing up, I’d struggled with bad headaches that at times could be incapacitating. My mom had had me checked out by a doctor, and I’d had scans done. But they couldn’t find anything wrong, and I was simply advised to slow down and try to reduce stress.

My dad had found Christian Science in the 1990s, and he’d shared some of what he was learning with our family. While I knew about Christian Science and had some involvement with it, I hadn’t given much thought to practicing it on my own or what that could mean for my life in terms of healing. A turning point came when I attended a camp for Christian Scientists, where I connected with other people my age who were practicing Christian Science.
