A return to the Comforter
Problems that seem insurmountable often turn us to our ever-present Comforter.
Introduced to Christian Science as a young adult, I took up its teachings, joined a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and The Mother Church (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston), and took class instruction from an authorized teacher of Christian Science.
In those early years, it was a struggle to establish a home and provide for my young family. But gradually, with dedicated application of this Science of the Christ, and with the loving support of my wife, my life came to include a suitable home, fulfilling employment, and adequate supply.
After some years, however, the progress in my life circumstances brought not only a degree of material comfort but also complacency, and I eventually drifted away from church attendance and the study and practice of Christian Science. I was content to rely upon my personal endeavors to maintain my home, career, and supply. I remember thinking, “Surely, I can manage life all by myself.” How wrong I was!
