Standing porter brings healing
Recently, I regrouted some tile in our bathroom shower. The project kept me on my knees for extended periods as I scraped away what no longer belonged and applied new material.
While working, I listened to the weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly and articles from The Christian Science Journal. Being “on your knees” often implies prayer, and I was praying as I worked. To me, the task illustrated how thought is renewed. We clear out what does not express God, Spirit, and yield to fresh spiritual insights.
On the Wednesday morning after finishing the project, I woke with throbbing knee pain. For a moment, I accepted that this made sense and that I would now face the consequences of overstressing my body. That morning, I was scheduled to run with a longtime training partner. I wondered if I would need to cancel. But, while lying in bed, I rejected that as an option.
