In concert with God’s harmony

During my broadcasting career in London, I was to be the host one evening for a live radio transmission of a chamber music recital to several million listeners on the BBC’s World Service. On the eve of the performance, I came down with an acutely painful throat that deprived me of my speaking voice and most of my energy. I had become a specialist in chamber music, so my anxiety and disappointment at having to find a replacement were palpable.

This predicament moved me right into the arms of our divine Father-Mother, God, who is universal Love and harmoniously governs every moment of our lives. I prayed for a fuller awareness of my perfection as a child of God, not only known and loved but also maintained in stable health and soundness by God. This was a spiritual truth that I knew was steadfast, invincible, and wholly good. No infection or upheaval could change this fact, nor could it disturb the balance and harmony that are essential elements of God’s government throughout homes, offices, schoolrooms, and concert halls.

To my delight, this reasoning led not to a gradual, drawn-out, overnight recovery, but to instant relief from the pain in my throat. I felt a firm assurance that my voice was back to normal. And it was. I was healed!
