Delight in international giving

In my transcontinental hopping between South Africa and Australia in recent years, I’ve grown increasingly aware of a global community that is shrinking and becoming borderless. People in all walks of life who are no longer restricted by time or location are coming together more and more frequently. Rapidly our community is being redefined on a far broader scale than before.

But how do we reach out to this wider community? How can we show we care? We may feel that we are too young, too old, too far away, or too busy to truly help others. We may even feel that we don’t have enough to offer, or don’t feel “spiritual enough” to be of use to others.

As a Christian Scientist, I have learned that these are limiting, fear-based beliefs that don’t come from God, because, quite simply, they are not good. Replacing these negative thoughts with positive ones is a natural process because God is all-encompassing. God is divine Love and provides for all our needs.
