Protected during a fall

When I took Christian Science class instruction in 1964, our teacher explained to the class how vitally important it was for each student to do daily protective metaphysical work by identifying oneself with God as His spiritual idea. So, should an emergency situation arise, we would be prepared to handle it swiftly through prayer. Our teacher suggested that our daily study should consist of studying the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson, along with reading the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, and other works by Mrs. Eddy.

At the time, I was a young widow with two children to support and I felt that this daily prayer and study might be quite a challenge—especially considering my family, my business, and my church obligations. I found the time to do it, though, and for the past 47 years the blessings have been great. I’d like to share one recent healing.

Last summer, my daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, and I were on our way to lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. We were walking across a gravel parking lot that led to a cobblestone walkway leading to the restaurant. Where the parking lot met the cobblestone walkway, there was a two-and-a-half-inch rise that I failed to notice. I tripped on the rise and fell, full force, face down on the cobblestone walkway.
