Lump in breast healed

In December of 2010, I noticed a lump on my breast that began increasing in size. I did pray about the situation from time to time, but when it became too painful to sleep on my chest or receive a hug, I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner for help.

Every day she patiently listened to me as I shared my fears, including some resentments and regrets that came up, then she helped me remove them. She took time to share a number of healings that had taken place with her, with her family, and examples from Scripture. I felt this was a very special time of learning for me and I took many notes.

After several weeks, I had lost all fear that this condition could be my end. I’d also gained a renewed sense of the importance of daily prayer for myself. (My daily self-treatment had become rather cursory instead of being fresh and inspired.) I endeavored to follow Mary Baker Eddy’s guidance: “The heart that beats mostly for self is seldom alight with love. To live so as to keep human consciousness in constant relation with the divine, the spiritual, and the eternal, is to individualize infinite power; and this is Christian Science” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 160).
