Injured foot healed

A few summers ago, I was moving some debris and rocks out of the creek near our vacation cabin in an effort to clean up an area that had the possibility of damming up. I was wearing tennis shoes, but my footing was unsteady on the slippery, wet rocks. In the course of this work I inadvertently dropped a very large rock on top of one foot.

I could immediately feel that something was not right and hobbled off to the side of the creek and sat down. In those next few minutes I realized I had a choice. I could accept this as an accident that had the potential of sidelining me for days, maybe weeks, or I could, through prayer, claim my freedom from harm just as Jesus and his disciples had done in their healing ministries. Because of the many times in my life that God’s loving care, direction, and supply had been made apparent in very practical ways, I chose prayer.

In one short week I was to fly to Denmark to visit my daughter who was in a college program there. We had already made plans for an active seven-day bicycle trip around the country before she started classes.
