Healed of menstrual discomfort
When I found Christian Science over 18 years ago, I had many wonderful healings and for many years enjoyed perfect health. Then after I entered the public practice of Christian Science to help others through prayer, I seemed all of a sudden to be in a relentless struggle with health challenges. I had helped others with similar and other problems, but for myself, I’d hit a wall.
It all started with the onset at one point of symptoms connected with my monthly period. After years of experiencing no discomfort during that time, I was now suffering with fever, stomach pain, and heavy bleeding. In addition to my physical struggle, I was visiting another city and concerned about safe travel during the seven-hour trip home. I called a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me, and was quickly healed of all physical discomfort. After that, the heavy bleeding did not return, but, for a few months, there was irregularity in the menstrual cycle accompanied by pain. I was also dealing with indigestion, coughing, and weariness. At times I felt frustrated and could not sleep peacefully. I would ring up the practitioner at odd times during the night, and his loving voice and calm assurance along with prayerful support would give me immediate relief. Still, I was far from really waking up to the fact that sickness was no part of me.
One day my husband and I were discussing an article in one of the Christian Science magazines where the writer talked about “watching with Christ for one hour” during church services and testimony meetings. The next day was Wednesday, and I shared this idea at our ushers’ meeting and decided to think of the service as an opportunity to “watch with Christ.”
