Healing the past, and finding love
Going through a divorce after a 23–year marriage left me wondering what my mistakes had been. For years, I had prayed and hoped that my relationship with my husband would establish a lasting foundation for our shared lives, but it had become clear that our marriage wasn’t working.
One day during the divorce, it dawned on me that even after all those years together, a genuine friendship had never developed between my husband and me.
This sudden comprehension also pushed me to think more deeply about the relationship I had with God: was I only turning to Him when it was convenient? What was really the center of my affection? When I faced a problem, did I turn first to the Scriptures for answers, or first to figuring things out on my own?
