Persistent, healing prayer
Mary Baker Eddy taught prayer that starts with God (top down), not the bottom-up prayer that starts with the problem.
Guided by divine Truth and not guesswork, the theologus (that is, the student–the Christian and scientific expounder–of the divine law) treats disease with more certain results than any other healer on the globe.
–Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 459
Margaret Thatcher once asked, “It’s easy to be a starter, but are you a sticker, too?” I like that quote—it reminds me to stick to things—especially things that require persistence. It has built some good strong spiritual muscle. The more one prayerfully exercises his or her thought the stronger one becomes. Things that used to be difficult become easier, things that would loom large and frightening are faced with more confidence and spiritual power. This takes importunity, persistence.
