Healed of sudden stomach illness
While at work one December afternoon some years ago, when I was living in New York City, I began experiencing stomach cramps. By the time I took the train home that evening, the pain had intensified. I probably would have collapsed had I not been pinned against the doors of the train, which was packed with rush-hour commuters. At this point I was also getting nauseous and decided to get off at the next stop.
For the next 15 minutes I paced the very crowded subway platform and began to pray. Later I boarded a less crowded train and headed home.
When I arrived, I decided to skip dinner and went to my room to pray. Before going to bed that night I prayed for another hour trying to lift my thoughts above the physical condition by contemplating some of the statements in that week’s Christian Science Bible Lesson.
