Do some spiritual shining
How well I remember interviewing a Christian Science practitioner whose life was as filled with light as the Oklahoma wheat fields in which her parents had once toiled. She had raised three sons and four daughters, insisting that each one of them abide by a rule she held sacred: “Let your light shine!”
“You don’t make your light shine,” she explained as we talked together, “you let it!”
And that’s the message of this week’s issue of the Sentinel. Sometimes our light, or the goodness in our neighbor, schoolteacher, office co-worker, even our spouse or friend, may seem very hidden. But that’s precisely the moment for us to recharge our batteries, clean the glass, and do some spiritual shining.
