The night Jesus was born

The night Jesus was born some shepherds were watching their sheep in the fields near Bethlehem. Suddenly, the shepherds saw a great light and they were very scared. An angel of God appeared to them and said: “Don’t be afraid. I have happy news. A Savior was born for you this day in Bethlehem. You will know who the Savior is, when you find a baby          lying on a bed of hay in a manger.” Then the shepherds heard a great many heavenly voices praising God, and saying, “Glory be to God in the highest and peace on earth to all.”

Hurrying through the night, the shepherds went to Bethlehem. They found the baby and his parents, Mary and Joseph, in a stable. The baby was lying in a manger. Then the shepherds knew what the angel of God had told them was true.

The shepherds told Mary and Joseph about the wonderful things they had seen and heard. They also shared with other people the good news that their Savior, or Messiah, had come. Everyone was surprised and wondered about what it all meant.
