Repairing their nets

It was an overcast August day and I was visiting Sitka, Alaska, in the southeast part of the state. I wandered down to the port, which is actually the largest harbor system in Alaska, and was struck by the large number of commercial fishing boats crowded together at over 1,000 permanent slips. I then discovered a pair of fishing boats that were separate from the others, tied up at the end of a dock.

As I prepared to take this photo, I noticed four fishermen repairing their nets.

The scene was totally tranquil. The harmony of Soul was evident. The colorful homes and green trees provided a vivid backdrop on this gray day. The quiet ink-colored water gave off rippled reflections of the boats. As in biblical times, the men were spending the requisite time skillfully and quietly repairing their nets.
