The warts went away

A couple of years ago I noticed that there were warts on my hand. Because I'd always turned to God with any problem, I started praying.

At first, I didn't pray too hard. I thought the warts would easily go away. But instead, they began getting bigger and started bleeding a lot because I was playing basketball and football every day, and the warts would open up and start to really hurt.

I decided I had to be more serious about praying. I thought about what I had learned in Sunday School about how I was perfectly made by God. My mom showed me how I could pray, and she also prayed for me.

I realized that the warts were kind of like an optical illusion. Like thinking that the world is flat when it's actually round. So from a material point of view, it looked like there were warts on my hand, but from a spiritual point of view there weren't any, because God didn't make them. God is Spirit, and He makes only good. Mary Baker Eddy said to "cling steadfastly to God and His idea" when we're tempted to believe an illusion. Then she said, "Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought" (Science and Health, p. 495). So, I decided that I wouldn't examine my hands anymore to see if the warts were still there, because that would be giving power to an illusion. I wanted to give God the power.

One day I read a testimony in the Christian Science Sentinel about a piano player who was healed of warts. (I love to play jazz piano!) It just occurred to me that there was no place for matter to exist in God's kingdom. Goodness and perfection are all that exist. I got very clear about this and felt God's presence with me.

Within a couple of weeks, the warts went away, and they never came back. I am very grateful for this healing.

When I turned 12 a little later, I decided to join The Mother Church in Boston. I'm excited to be a member because it helps me learn more about how to apply Christian Science in my life.
