Our sailboat turtled

Last summer, at camp, I went sailing with three friends. I was the helmsman. Suddenly our sailboat turtled (flipped upside down). I felt a rope wrap around my right leg, dragging me under water.

At first I was scared, but then I thought about God. I knew God was with me and wouldn't let me drown. God is a caring, loving God. I've learned in Sunday School that God always holds me up. I was glad that I was able to stay calm and not panic. I knew I had a purpose to fulfill. Everyone has a purpose. If they didn't, God would not have put us here.

Very quickly I felt the rope easily slip off my leg. I was set free!

It was my duty to check on everyone. I saw my three crew members swimming around. We were all OK. We righted the boat and sailed back to camp. I looked forward to sailing the next day.

I am thankful to God for saving me.
