TWO QUICK HEALINGS
When I was in my late teens, a very dear friend who had been studying Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy introduced me to Christian Science. I had never heard of this religion, but my friend was so thoughtful and kind that I felt I wanted to know more about it. I started going to church with her at the local Church of Christ, Scientist, and got my own copy of Science and Health.
Right away, I loved what it had to say about God being Spirit. Not a wrathful God, striking me down when I did something wrong, but a God who was loving and forgiving. I'd always felt that God was good, and couldn't possibly have created anything evil. But I wondered where the badness and sorrow in life came from. Science and Health opened up a whole new way of thinking for me. It showed me that God was infinitely good, and that there was only one creation, which reflected His goodness. Error—sin, accident, disease—was a lie to be destroyed by seeing the true nature of the Divine and what He had made. This made a lot of sense to me.
Within that same year, I had my first healing. I was chopping some vegetables for dinner when I suddenly cut one of my fingers with the knife. The wound was deep and bleeding profusely, so I wrapped my finger in a dish towel. After several minutes, I unwrapped it, and my finger didn't look good.
