AN EYE-OPENER

Thank you for the spirituality.com chat with Bruce Fitzwater titled "Prayer for progress in government," excerpts from which were printed in the September 6 issue of the Sentinel ["Quiet moments alone with God"].

We in Holland are living in an almost estranged country at the moment, where a new government is getting started. There's so much to do about it and so much opposition. This article convinced me that I have to look at the current happenings in a different way. We are living in God's kingdom, and God is in total control! It was a sudden eye-opener. Thank you again.

TECH AIDS

Thank you for the issue of September 20, regarding "Technology—striking a balance." I appreciate more than ever the balanced use of my computer.

When I recently read Mary Baker Eddy's No and Yes, I encountered names of philosophers which I had skipped over in previous readings, but names which Mrs. Eddy deemed worth of mentioning. This time I wanted to know something of them, and turned to the Internet and read a bit of their differences with each other and their distance in thinking from Christian Science.

Thanks for balance, and the time the technology saved me from looking in volumes, which I do not have.

PRAYER-FILLED TRIP

I was so delighted to read the article in the September 27 Sentinel ["Fresh start"] by Christian Science practitioner Patty Wilson titled "New views of God's goodness—in South Korea."

This past April, my older son and I traveled to Seoul to visit my younger son, who has been teaching English there for the past three years. In case we needed to call a Christian Science practitioner while in Korea, I wrote Patty's name and phone number in the inside cover of the little notebook I used to write down inspiring ideas I worked with before taking our trip.

As I had never visited this part of the world before (indeed if our son was not there, I'm sure I would not have ever thought of going there), I felt the need to prayerfully work on such topics as security, environment, energy, food, and the perceived political instability in that area.

As it turned out, our trip was altogether an amazing experience, full of delight, harmony, safety, vigor, variety, and inspiration. We loved every minute of it and were loathe to leave at the end of our time there.

I never had a need to call Patty, but now I wish I had, just to have a chat! I'm so happy to know of the efforts she is making to bring Christian Science to the lovely people of South Korea.

COMFORTER—SOLD OUT!

I love the October 4 Sentinel, "The Comforter: today and forever." The whole issue is wonderful!

I especially love Jan Keeler's article, "The Comforter in action." I've probably read it through at least three or four times. It seems to speak to every fearful thought: emotional and physical pain; trying to stay one step ahead of life's challenges; or having to figure everything out on our won. She brings out so beautifully that Love is an operating presence in our life; that the Comforter makes comfortable; eases our burden; softens our moments; silences fear; and relieves the stresses of material living. And, my favorite: Our entire being is the result of God expressing himself.

Also, Katy McKinney's testimony on childbirth is excellent. Michael Mastagni's "Reminder from a little bird" is so inspiring. A big thank you to all who contribute these inspiring ideas each week.

(Our Reading Room has sold out of this issue—just to let you know!)
