A WONDERFUL START TO THE HOLIDAY

Last year, I awoke Thanksgiving morning with an uncomfortable stomachache that soon became very painful. Immediately all kinds of fears flooded my thought. I was scheduled to leave the country for several weeks the next day, and I worried that this condition would prevent me from being able to travel. I also worried that this would spoil my Thanksgiving and prevent me from enjoying my favorite holiday. I started identifying all types of material causes for this problem.

But as these fearful thoughts began swirling about, I was brought up abruptly by the ridiculousness of this kind of thinking. First of all, it was silly of me to give matter any kind of future. I felt the best solution was to pray. I knew I had the right to expect an instantaneous healing, rather than to expect to feel ill for a certain amount of time.

I knew that if I kept my thought filled with Truth, no suggestion of illness or upset could take root in my thinking. The day before, I had been praying with a friend, talking about the unreality of matter and the importance of being able to see through material illusions. I realized that I needed to claim these same ideas for myself.
