HEALED OF INTERNAL HEMORRHAGING AND TOOTH PAIN

More than 20 years ago, I was troubled with a condition of internal pain and hemorrhaging, perhaps much like what the woman in the Bible who had "an issue of blood" might have been experiencing (see Mark 5:25–34). This was not a constant condition, but it would happen frequently, and I was sometimes very fearful.

The Christian Science practitioner I called to pray with me during this time talked with me about my spiritual nature and purpose. She reminded me that it was my joyful responsibility to know that God was in control of every aspect of my life. After our conversations and prayerful work, the hemorrhaging would dissipate, and I would feel less afraid. But then it would happen again weeks later. This went on for several years, and at one point I thought I would consult a physician to find out what the problem was. I reasoned that if I knew the name of the ailment, I might be able to handle it more effectively in my prayers.

However, as I considered this, I realized that what I most wanted to heal was my fear. In this case, speaking with a physician and possibly hearing additional medical details seemed like it might increase my fear rather than alleviate it. So I decided to redouble my efforts at overcoming the fear and recognizing the unreality of the condition.
