LETTERS

My heartfelt thanks for the inspired and inspiring articles in the Sentinel each week. I particularly appreciated the editorial titled "A spiritual response to cyberattacks" in the July 5 issue on spiritual growth. In meeting this challenging concept, as the editorial points out, we can pray to know that "every individual is the exact likeness of the Divine." I was most encouraged to find this truth being applied both to computer users and to those charged with defending against hacker attacks.

As I continued to read, I found myself going further, to include every individual in prayer. This must also mean any people involved in hacking attempts—whether out of sheer sport, or with darker, more malicious intentions. It is our privilege to refute the erroneous idea that hackers are evil, or somehow less beloved of God than any of His other children. We can pray to see that true motives are divinely impelled and spotless, incapable of causing harm.

The truths about our spiritual nature surely are universal, thus embracing computer users, defenders, and potential hackers alike. Insofar as we affirm such truths, we can only bless our fellow man, everywhere.
