LOSING MY JOB LED TO FINDING MY GOD

IN EARLY ADULTHOOD I lost my job in a business where I had expected to make a career. Two people, who were older than I and had more seniority in the company, had taken advantage of my lack of experience to lead me to commit a serious professional mistake, and I was dismissed without rights.

It was as if the sky had fallen in on me. My wife had just given birth to our first child, and I had lost my job. My friends and relatives blamed me for being naive. I was disoriented, and a great hatred grew in me against those two people. In my anger, I would have been capable of anything.

It was in the midst of this situation that someone who knew of my distress recommended that I read Le Héraut de la Science Chrétienne (the French Herald of Christian Science). Having never heard of Christian Science, I at first refused. But since I was in a deep hole, I was ready to grasp at anything that could pull me out.
