God is our refuge

A Christian Science practitioner shares how her friend prayed when his wife was facing a serious operation.

IN JAPAN, the phrase gun nanmin ("cancer refugees") has become prevalent and is heard frequently in the media. It's used to describe cancer patients who have been told there is no more that the doctors can do for them.

When I first heard the phrase, I felt helpless for a moment. But as a student of the Holy Bible, I remembered the verse from the book of Psalms that says, "God is our refuge" (46:1).

My next response was: "No! No one, nobody, is a refugee if we have a place to be protected, cared for, and even be healed. We have our heavenly Father as our refuge."
