CHRISTMAS IS

FULL OF LIFE

Since Christmas and Thanksgiving are really close to one another, I like to think about gratitude throughout the holidays. I'm especially grateful for family-time during Christmas.

My family has a few traditions, some silly and some that will sound familiar to many people. We usually all get up around 8:00 a.m. on Christmas Day and then open stockings. We each find a tangerine in the toe of our stocking, and then we snuggle up on the couch and start opening presents, making them last as long as we can. I think the true meaning of Christmas is really life, love, and togetherness. Working together, coming together as one.

And this all comes from the message of the Christmas story. When I think about this story, a few parts really stand out to me. The first part is where the shepherds in the field hear angel voices talking to them and singing—just amazing! I also love thinking about the Christmas star. To me, it represents freedom and leadership, the Christ leading the way. The light reminds me that darkness has no power.
